The Executive Committee (ExCo) consists of five individuals elected from the membership.  The elected five can then co-opt up to two individuals to ensure there is a national balance, these positions are currently being filled by representatives for the UK Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies and Northern Ireland.  The UK government and statutory conservation agencies are represented and currently two of the six commissions are represented by UK focal points, it is hoped this will increase over time until all commissions are represented.

Meeting four times a year (a quorum being four members) the Executive Committee conduct the business of the committee between meetings in conjunction with the Secretariat and report to members at least once a year.
