Invitation to tender for provision of secretariat services to the IUCN UK Committee
The UK Committee of IUCN is a partnership comprising representatives of the UK Government, the Statutory Agencies and various NGOs, working to encourage cooperation among all IUCN members in the UK sand to facilitate their contribution to the programme and governance of IUCN internationally. The IUCN UK Committee is inviting tenders for the provision of a secretariat services for, in the first instance, a three year period running from April 2009 to March 2012.
A detailed specification for the provision of these services is attached as Annex A. In inviting tenders, the Committee would hope that the successful candidate would provide a fertile ground for fostering the development of the UK Committee's work, complementary to the provision of a straightforward Secretariat service. Such characteristics in the service provider might include the following and would provide a means of adding value to the work of the Committee:
- a high-level of prestige and credibility in the conservation world, ideally demonstrable through their work within the IUCN network;
- regular easy access to small meeting room facilities (with advance booking);
- easy access to larger meeting spaces for workshops and conferences (with advance booking);
- video-conferencing and telephone-conferencing facilities;
- office workspace for initially one person with potential for accommodating the development of a small team of two or three;
- a competent individual(s) to oversee the administrative work of the UK Committee work practices which could provide benefit for the UK Committee, for example, the support of project interns and vocational experience workers;
- occasional access to complementary resources within the organisation, such as legal and marketing expertise.
The UK Committee sees these as desirable, but not essential, characteristics of a service provider.
The UK Committee looks forward to receiving tenders for this opportunity. In tenders, applicants are requested to outline the detail of staff likely to be involved in providing the service and their cv’s where appropriate. All such tenders should be returned to the current Secretariat in an envelope marked 'SECRETARIAT TENDER' in the top, left-hand corner, to arrive no later than 7th January 2008. Applicants will be informed of the outcome by 28th February at the latest.
